to begin at the end

My apartment is a mess. A creative mess: cords, microphones, a pulled out and opened up piano, sheets of lyrics, a computer, and various instruments that I have varying levels of skill at playing: a skull shaker, a banjo, a few ukuleles…

It’s winter, the season of inward-looking, endings, dark, cold. For me the perfect season to pluck something unknown from the ether, climb the steep learning curve of new software, new dependence on my own ears, and a new kind of creativity.

So far, I’ve barely gotten my toes wet, but the great, essential, celebratory bottom line is: I CAN DO IT!

Is there something you are longing to do? One of my words this year is Bravery. I hope I can live up to it – to the idea that there is just no time for anything but.

Be well, stay tuned…
